Upcoming Events at the Comic Bug!
An Aurora Grimeon Story: Will O’ the Wisp explores the spooky world of a cemetery island in the southern swamps that time has passed by, its creepy cast of characters, and an old biological supply company; all through the eyes of a teenage girl. Along the way she discovers Hoodoo (a uniquely American magical practice), and delves deeply into it when mysterious happenings out in the swamp begin to threaten those on the island. The story features many authentic Hoodoo practices. This is the first self-contained story featuring Aurora and her pet raccoon Missy solving mysteries steeped in southern ghost stories.
Meet the creators of this phantasmagoric tale, writer Tom Hammock and illustrator Megan Hutchison Wednesday, February 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Comic Bug and see this "impressively creepy" tale for yourself!
This is the big one, folks! Intellectual Property and Copyright lawyer DAVID LIZERBRAM has agreed to take time to sit in with the creator group on Saturday, February 22nd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
This is a FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY to talk about the law and creativity. Learn how a partnership works with a fellow creator. How to look out for your own creator rights and what to expect if your creation gets picked up by a publisher. Mr. Lizerbram is a fountain of knowledge and lectures at San Diego Comic-Con and Comikaze annually. Bring questions! Don't miss it!

Wednesday, March 5, The Comic Bug will be experiencing BEATLEMANIA with Andrew Robinson! THE FIFTH BEATLE: THE BRIAN EPSTEIN STORY is a graphic novel by Vivek Tiwary, Andrew C Robinson and Kyle Baker.
The Fifth Beatle is the untold true story of Brian Epstein, the visionary manager who discovered and guided the Beatles - from their gigs in a tiny cellar in Liverpool to unprecedented international stardom. Yet more than merely the story of "The Man Who Made the Beatles," The Fifth Beatle is an uplifting, tragic, and ultimately inspirational human story about the struggle to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. Brian himself died painfully lonely at the young age of thirty-two, having helped the Beatles prove through "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" that pop music could be an inspirational art form. He was homosexual when it was a felony to be so in the United Kingdom, Jewish at a time of anti-Semitism, and from Liverpool when it was considered just a dingy port town.
To celebrate 20 years of amazing Hellboy writing and art, The Comic Bug will have 25% OFF Mignola merchandise! There will also be a limited number of The Comic Bug Exclusive limited print, the Death of Hellboy.

"Mike Mignola is one of the preeminent comics creators of the past 25 years. His career was already firmly established for his outstanding work on characters like Batman, Wolverine, a myriad of beautiful covers and more... And then came Hellboy. Mike's iconic creation struck a meteoric chord with fans from the very start and has not abated in the 20 years since his debut.
This Artist's Edition features the first five issues of Hellboy in Hell as well as a wealth of historic supplementary material: the first three Hellboy stories-the two initial four-pagers, produced for promotional purposes, and the 10-page story from John Byrne's Nextmen #21- plus The Corpse, and two other tales selected by Mignola for inclusion.
Each page of Mike Mignola's Hellboy Artist's edition is shot from the original art and showcases Mignola's gorgeous work as closely as possible to the physical page-this is a book for fans of great storytelling and students of the craft."
This is not an event to be missed!

Tentative date of October 25th at THE COMIC BUG, comic book pros, TBD will be paired up with stand-up comedians from COMICS AND COMICS for the second installment of the drawing battle game, SKETCH FIGHTER.
These artists may be the best in their field when it comes to 30-day deadlines, but how will they do at sketching in 60 seconds or less? Likewise, their comedian tag-team partners may be quick on their feet on stage, but when their mic is traded for a marker, will they bomb? Only one team will emerge victorious and crowned Sketch Fighter Champions.
Upon the conclusion of the game finals, the two pads of paper used in competition will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the Hero Initiative. The pads will also include a finished, not-rushed drawing by each of the artists participating, completed prior to the start of the game.
